Great to see a negative result trial on an Italian fibromyalgia published and discussed at industry conference. The bias for showing only positive result trials at conference is clearly being challenged. Only one trial was discussed today which showed a surprisingly huge placebo response for fibromyalgia and that it was statistically insignificant from a pregablin type medication response. Fibromyalgia continues to challenge clinicians and it is present in all cultures and causes enormous suffering. I became interested in it professionally when working with refugees coming from Iraq a few years ago, that they described a condition of total body pain – one that fitted our diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia.
